StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game deeloped by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft. Released on July 27, 2010, the game was developed for concurrent release on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS XStarCraft II is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, and two expansion packsHeart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.

Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy, the game is built around three species: the Terranshuman exiles from Earth; the Zerg, a race of insectoid genetic assimilators; and the Protoss, a species with vast psionic power. Wings of Liberty will focus on the Terrans specifically, while the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void will focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively. The game is expected to be set four years after the events of StarCraft: Brood War, and follow the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. The game includes old characters from the original game, as well as introducing new characters and locations to the franchise.

Starcraft II features the return of the three races from the original game: ProtossTerran, and Zerg.  it also features approximately the same number of units as the original game. For example, the Protoss Zealot, a melee unit from the original game, now has the explorable ability to dash forward and quickly reach nearby enemies as a refinement of their speed upgrade from the original.

Units in StarCraft II have new abilities, compared to the original, that encourage more complex interaction with the game environment. Among these are the inclusion of units that can traverse varying levels of terrain, or have the ability to teleport short distances. Some Protoss units can be warped in to pylon-powered areas using the Warp Gate, a slight modification of the existing building called the Gateway.

'iPhone 4 major leap on iPhone 3GS'

NEW YORK: Wall Street Journal columnist Walt Mossberg called the iPhone a 'major leap' over 'its already-excellent predecessor'.

Apple Inc’s iPhone 4 will “dazzle” consumers with its thinner redesign, “radically” sharper screen, higher-resolution front-facing camera and updated operating system, reviewers said.

The iPhone 4 feels “denser and tighter” than the 3GS, Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walt Mossberg wrote in a review today. Sound is “much better on both ends” of a call, according to David Pogue in the New York Times.

Mossberg called the phone a “major leap” over “its already excellent predecessor.” Apple’s fourth-generation phone goes on sale tomorrow at the same cost as the iPhone 3GS. The 16GB model sells for $199 and the 32GB model for $299, each with a two-year contract from AT&T Inc.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has received more than 600,000 preorders for the phone. Dallas-based AT&T, the exclusive US carrier for the iPhone, said June 15 that it has booked 10 times as many preorders for the new model as it did for the 3GS last year.

USA Today technology columnist Edward C Baig said the smartphone is “the one to beat, even as it faces fierce competition from phones based on Google’s Android platform.” Mossberg praised the video calling and long-lasting battery, writing that “even in heavy use, the iPhone 4’s battery never reached the red zone on a single day of my tests.”

Fewer dropped calls
Pogue wrote “the new phone is also better at choosing the best channel for connecting with the cell tower,” leading to fewer dropped calls in New York and San Francisco.

Baig, Mossberg and Pogue all presented the phone’s drawbacks. The biggest is “Apple needs a second network,” Mossberg said.

Apple also has allowed only certain applications to “fully multitask” to avoid “a disastrous drain on battery life,” Mossberg wrote. There are more than 225,000 applications that run on the iPhone, according to an Apple statement.

“The technically inclined may find greater flexibility and choice among its Android rivals,” Pogue wrote. Baig added that “critics are left with reasons to whine.”

The iPhone 4 “is still, overall, the best in its class,” Mossberg wrote.

Apple fell $2.88 to $270.97 at 4:30 p.m. time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. The shares have climbed 29 per cent this year and have more than doubled in the past year.

Wireless mouse, when it start?

AppleWirelessMouse.JPG
The Apple Wireless Mouse is a one button mouse built for Macintosh computers. It was released in September 2003, although it is not widely recognized that it was Apple's primary wireless mouse until 2005. It interacts over Bluetooth 1.1 wireless technology. It included 2 AAlithium non-rechargeable batteries, and had a power switch on the bottom that also protected the optical sensor while the mouse was not in use. While the Industrial design of the Apple Wireless Mouse was handled entirely by Apple's in-house designers, some of the hardware was engineered by Sparkfactor Design.
The Apple Mighty Mouse, a multi-button mouse with a scroll ball, was eventually released in a wireless version. Apple eventually discontinued the Wireless Apple Mouse, replacing it with the Wireless Mighty Mouse. In April 2010, Apple released a new Mighty Mouse with no buttons or scrolls. The mouse is to resemble a laptop touch pad and uses very similar scrolling and clicking techniques featured in Apple's laptop range.

Prader-Willi Syndrome

What is Prader-Willi syndrome?
Prader-Willi Syndrome is an uncommon genetic disorder that causes poor muscle tone, low levels of sex hormones and a constant feeling of hunger among other things. People with this disorder have a problem with their hypothalamus, part of the brain that controls feelings of fullness or hunger. Thus, these people never feel full and have a constant urge to eat, ultimately leading to life-threatening obesity.
Prader-Willi syndrome in most cases result from a spontaneous genetic mutation in genes on chromosome 15 that occurs at conception.  In rare cases, the mutation is inherited.

What are the symptoms of Prader-Willi syndrome?
Often people with this disorder experience symptoms in two stages.
Stage 1 - Infants with Prader-willi syndrome can have low muscle tone affecting their ability to such properly. Because of this, they need special feeding assistance to help them eat and they may have problems gaining weight.  The situation gets better as they grow older.
Stage 2--Between the ages of 1 and 6 years, the children with the disorder may feel constant hunger, have an insatiable appetite, meaning they never feel full.
Although they eat more, but because they have less muscle mass,  they do not burn as many calories as the normal peers leading to the development of life-threatening obesity if the diet is not kept under strict control.

Other symptoms that may affect people with Prader-Willi syndrome include

  • Behavioral problems such as stubbornness or temper tantrums
  • Delayed motor skills and speech due to low muscle tone
  • Cognitive problems, ranging from near normal intelligence to mild intellectual and developmental disabilities; learning disabilities are common
  • Repetitive thoughts and verbalizations
  • Collecting and hoarding of possessions
  • Picking at skin
  • Low sex hormone levels

Prader-Willi syndrome is considered a spectrum disorder, meaning that not all symptoms are expected to occur in everyone with the disorder and the symptoms may range from mild to severe.
People with Prader-Willi syndrome often have some special mental strengths as well, such as skills in jigsaw puzzles.  If obesity can be prevented, people with the syndrome can live a normal lifespan.

What are the treatments for Prader-Willi syndrome?
There is no cure for Prader-Willi syndrome. But, early intervention can help people with the disorder build skills for living a better life.  Early diagnosis is essential and luckily a health care provider can simply do a blood test to check for Prader-Willi syndrome.
Exercise and physical activity can help control weight gain and develop motor skills.  Speech therapy may also help with oral skills.
Human growth hormone can help increase height, decrease body fat, and increase muscle mass.  However, nothing can help control appetite in those with Prader-Willi syndrome.

Incase snap case iphone 4, Griffin Motif iphone 4 & Belkin Shield micra for iphone 4: All are great

All of them are great. Incase snap case iphone 4, Griffin Motif iphone 4 & Belkin Shield micra for iphone 4: All are great and beautiful
Apple has launched the iPhone 4 case free program. The company has said that it will provide free cases to all iPhone 4 users who have already bought the iPhone 4.

Incase Snap Case iPhone 4: Apple’s Free iPhone 4 Case Program Begins By Brad Pareso

Got iPhone 4 reception and dropped call issues? There’s a case for that. And an app.
Apple began its program to give all owners of the iPhone 4 a free case in an attempt to alleviate issues stemming from placement of one of its antennas. The move was announced at an impromptu press conference last Friday.
Current owners of the device as well as any prospective buyers up to Sept. 30 can download an app from the iTunes store which, when used on their device, provides step-by-step instructions for securing a free case. Options are available, from Apple’s own bumper case (only available through the program in black) as well as third-party manufacturers like InCase and Belkin.
(Note the picture here is a rendering from Incase of what the design may be. To see it and other renderings, head to the Incase website.)
Apple launched the iPhone 4 nearly a month ago on June 24, selling 1.7 million phones over its launch weekend. Reports began to emerge that when bridging the gap on the lower left end of the device with a finger, reception and calls dropped. The frenzy came to a peak when Consumer Reports failed to recommend the phone, despite it topping their list for smartphone ratings.

Sony's new 3D theater surround system: by Wakjawa

sony-BDV-470SS

The BDV-470SS system, new model from Sony’s,  combines the HT-AS5 with the BDP-S470 3D Blu-ray player, making a complete ‘just add TV’ package. This model include 3D pass-through on HDMI, and all feature 1000W of S-Master digital amplification hidden away in their compact subwoofers, which also act as the control centre for the systems. Just like what u seen on the picture, this model give u a great experience with the true sounds.

Simple, compact surround sound systems with 3D pass-through on 3 HDMI inputs and 1 output.
2 optical/1 coaxial digital input for games consoles, set-top boxes 1000W output power from S-Master digital amplification and 7.1-channel LPCM from Blu-ray players Auto Calibration for easy, accurate setting. Slim, compact speakers are used for front and rear channels, the HT-AS5 using the same speakers all round, while the HT-AF5 adds tall floorstanding front left and right channels for an even bigger sound.

The three new systems also have Digital Cinema Sound processing, developed in conjunction with Sony Pictures Entertainment, and this works with the Auto Calibration to give the most accurate, most involving home cinema experience. HT-AS5: ultra-compact surround sound makes the most of the 3D experience The HT-AS5 hides away its 1000W S-Master amplification in its subwoofer unit, which also contains all the audio processing for the system as well as an FM RDS/AM radio tuner. That just leaves four compact speakers on show, while Auto Calibration makes sure set-up is as accurate as possible, while the Digital Cinema Sound processing delivers the big screen sound experience.
3D pass-through is available on all three HDMI inputs, while the HDMI monitor output also has Audio Return Channel capability. This allows sound from a TV’s internal tuner to be delivered through the surround system, halving the usual cable requirement.

BRAVIA Sync allows an entire home cinema system to be controlled from one handset, while the ‘Home Theatre Control’ BRAVIA Internet Widget will allow the TV’s onscreen display to control the sound system.
HT-AF5: floorstanding front speakers for a bigger sound. The HT-AF5 has all the same features as the HT-AS5, but with a pair of taller speakers for the front left and right channels, giving a bigger sound more suited to larger rooms. The speakers can be used wall-mounted or on the floorstands supplied.

Take the HT-AS5, add on the superb BDP-S470 3D Blu-ray Disc player, and you have the BDV-470SS all-in-one package. But there’s more to it than that: the system will also let you stream music, video and TV via the BRAVIA Internet Video platform, access the internet or content stored on a computer using DLNA, and playback a variety of content from compatible USB devices.

You can even control the system’s playback functions over your home network using an iPod Touch or iPhone and a downloadable app.

Jul 15th 2010 By Emerald Catron Ship Found in Mud at World Trade Center Construction Site

Ghost ship by alancleaver_2000.
Like, zoinks, Scoobs! A spooky ghost ship! Oh, how we wish it were a spooky ghost ship. So far, it just seems to be the bottom part of a ship, sans ghosts.

Workers were working at the Ground Zero site when they discovered some wooden beams sticking out in the mud. The beams were so symmetrically spaced that it was obvious there was a boat buried deep in the earth.

A bunch of archeologists who investigate discoveries made during construction soon arrived, and the wood began to deteriorate upon making contact with the air. It seems the bottom of the hull had been severed from the rest of the ship and used for landfill. Also found were an old shoe and a large metal collar that was possibly part of an oven.

Construction workers continued to dig even while the ships remains were being excavated nearby, so if any 18th century sea-faring ghosts do show up any time soon, at least we'll know about it.

How To Overcome A Fear Of Computers by: Noelyne Jones

Does the thought of computers make you fearful, worried or concerned? Does it cause anxiety as you know you should learn how to use one? Do you feel overwhelmed at the thought of learning a new skill? Are you afraid that you might not be able to learn? Are you scared that you might press the wrong button and delete everything?

A key emotion that can keep you from achieving what you want in life is Fear or Low level concern, Anxiety, Worry. I'm not talking about panic attacks, high level fears and phobias, which are often caused by a significant emotional event in your past. The fear and anxiety I am referring to are those daily worries, niggles or sixth sense telling you that all is not quite right for you. They can keep you stuck if you allow them to and can grow out of all proportion if you don't act to resolve the feelings.

If this fear is having a significant negative impact on your life, it’s time to do something about it.

Luckily these fears can be turned into a positive resource and can be easily overcome. They are telling you that something is going to happen soon that you need to prepare for. They are your body's way of alerting you to something you need to do.

The solution

• Review what you are feeling fearful about and evaluate what you must do to prepare yourself.

• Figure out what actions you need to take to deal with the situation in the best possible way.

Overcoming your fear – e.g. a fear of learning IT Skills

1. Understand your reason for wanting to learn new skills. What does it mean to you? What will it give you? What's in it for you?

If you have a compelling reason for achieving your goal of learning a new skill then you will overcome any barriers that might come along.

2. Identify what you are afraid of. What exactly are you saying to yourself? If it’s ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘I’m too old to learn something new’ or ‘I might make a mistake and break something’. These are negative or limiting beliefs that you have about the situation and if you allow them to, will stop you from being successful. What you need to do is change a negative thought to a positive one. For example, ‘I can do it’ or ‘Even though I am XX I can learn a new skill’.

One of my favourite quotes is from Henry Ford who said ‘If you think you can or you think you can’t, your right!’ Start telling yourself that you can do it.

3. What do you need to do? Who can support you? Who do you know who has already done what you want to do? What courses are there locally?

4. Decide what you need to do, believe that you can do it, then do it!

At this stage also check in with yourself about your level of commitment. Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being low and 10 being High as to how much you really want to learn about IT. If it's 7 and above well done and go to it. Anything below 7 then you need to go back to your goal and understand what it is that you want to achieve. Once you are at 10 then you will do whatever it takes.

Enjoy the Process!

Noelyne Jones
